A lot of people type “Bikram” into Google when what they want is any yoga class in a hot room. The name stuck around long after it stopped being the only heated option in London. So if you’ve been looking for Bikram yoga in London Bridge, it helps to know what you’ll find once you get there.

Our Borough studio is on Marshalsea Road, a few minutes on foot from London Bridge. The room is heated to 40 degrees and the hot yoga classes follow our own alignment-based sequence. It will feel familiar if you’ve done Bikram before, though the postures aren’t identical.

What is Bikram yoga?

Bikram is a fixed series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises practised at around 41°C. The order never changes from one class to the next. Regulars like knowing what’s coming, and the repetition makes it easy to track progress in a single posture over months.

It sits inside the wider family of hot yoga, which can mean anything from slow alignment work to a fast vinyasa flow in the heat. We’ve written a fuller guide to hot yoga vs Bikram if you want to compare the heat, postures and teaching style side by side.

Why choose 3Tribes for hot yoga near London Bridge?

Borough is the newest of our hot studios. Classes move through a balanced sequence of handpicked postures at a steady pace and teachers pay close attention to alignment. It’s a welcoming room where nobody is judging what you can or can’t do yet. Most students start noticing changes in their body after a few weeks of regular practice.

If you’re new, start with Essentials (Set 1). It’s open to all levels. Once you’ve done a few Essentials classes and practise regularly, Intermediate (Set 2) is the natural next step.

Hot yoga isn’t the only heated class on the Borough timetable. Hot Vinyasa is a flowing class where the teacher designs the sequence. Hot Core is a tougher set sequence that mixes yoga with calisthenics and Pilates. You’ll also see 4Beat and Yin for days when you want a class led by music or something slower. The Borough hot yoga page describes each one.

Benefits of practising hot yoga at 3Tribes

Heat makes stretching feel easier for most people because warm muscles give a little more. Holding postures for several breaths also builds strength in the legs and core over time. Plenty of our regulars say the bigger change is mental. An hour spent focusing on breath and alignment leaves very little room to think about work.

Expect to sweat heavily. That’s normal in a 40-degree room and the main reason hydration matters so much on class days.

What to expect at 3Tribes hot yoga classes

Tell the teacher when it’s your first class so they can offer modifications and keep an eye on you in the heat. Lying down on your mat for a minute is completely fine. Most beginners do it at least once in their first few sessions.

Our hot classes aren’t suitable during pregnancy or for anyone with a cardiovascular, blood pressure or blood sugar condition. Check with your GP first if you’re unsure.

Tips for first-time attendees

Hydrating properly starts in the morning. Drink water steadily through the day and eat lightly before class. A gap of two to three hours after a meal suits most people.

Close-fitting clothes in a moisture-wicking fabric work better than loose cotton, which gets heavy once you start sweating. Try to arrive ten to fifteen minutes early so you can set up your mat and get used to the warmth before class begins. Our hot yoga for beginners guide goes into more detail on what to bring and how your first session might feel.
